Yes, the Church has autonomy. I understand why but I have a question. God forgives the sinner but where does it say that makes it OK not to answer to the laws of man? A man or woman who sexually abuses anyone in their purview is a predator who has broken the laws of God and man. To hide them means the Church is guilty of also breaking the laws of God and man. There is nothing the Church can say to make this right. The law will get to the truth of the matter out in the open. See the below verses.
Matthew 22: 19 - 21
19 1Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
The point that sickens the heart is how the Southern Baptist Church handled the complaints. Their actions gave the appearance of deliberately not doing the right thing. Some have been ignored or hidden from the public. A large majority of offenders have been convicted. They are now registered sex offenders. BUT, according to the second link 36 are still working at the churches. The link with * before it. talks about abusers in Alabama. It is not hard to understand one fact. No means no. If the female or male is under 18, you DO NOT TOUCH in any manner with any body part from your body. Do not touch with any instrument also. You may not take pictures of them naked or observe them naked. See the following verse to understand what the Bible has to say.
KJV MATTHEW 18 VERSE-6
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
It seems that these people were not taught a valuable life lesson at the knees of their parents. What ever you do or say in this life, you will to answer for it in 1 of 3 ways.
1. At the time that you do or say it. The legal and social implications are immediate.
2. When you have reached a stage in your life that everything feels perfect to you, the
past rises up to bite you on the butt. You will have to answer for what you did or said.
3. When you stand before the throne nothing is hidden. The lies and omissions and as well
as the original sins will be judged without fail.
