Eric Snowden is the traitor that worked for the N.S.A. There is no doubt that the man is extremely intelligent. He checked his intelligence at the door when he faced what he felt was a wrong. Rather than use his intelligence to find a solution, he chose the way of a cowardly traitor.
According to the links below, between March 2012 and May 2013 Snowden stole around 1.77 million N.S.A. encrypted documents. He didn't think much beyond that. One thing he did showed that. He kept the password to some of the encrypted files on a piece of paper with the files.
Snowden went first to Hong Kong and then to Russia to avoid facing the music for his actions. These stops did not come free. Reading from the below links, Snowden gave up about 500,000 encrypted documents. Intelligence is not limited to the United States. Eventually the files would be cracked and were.
There was no thought given by Snowden to the people he put in jeopardy of losing their lives.What the N.S.A. was doing needed to be known. There were many better options. At the least, he could have sent thousands of anonymous tips to news medias across the country as well as newspapers. The information then would not have fallen into the hands of people who do not like us.
