Warning: Your standard trigger warnings will apply. If you think you'd rather not hear my thoughts on the POTUS-ELECT, Scroll by. These are my views. While I will welcome debate I will not welcome comments done in attack mode. I will change my mind my friends will state. However you have to explain why. If it's a matter of principle or you approach me in ass mode, then the answer is no.
During the past few days there have been remarks as well as a twitter storm generated. Apparently Donald Trump did not like when John Lewis, a well known Civil Rights Activist, questioned his validity as a president. Representative Lewis raised a few other points as well about what the POTUS-elect had been doing during his spare time, as he is not even sworn in yet as President.
Instead of encouraging discourse, instead of stating it was his right to feel this way, Trump chose instead to assault the man in a personal attack on Twitter. Also he just plain talked "smack" about Atlanta, Georgia and its people. The people who voted for him. See the article in link #2. He did not stop there I have a few problems with that. Primarily that tomorrow is MLK Jr day. Representative Lewis was on the front like during the struggle.
A human regardless of race, religion or creed should stand up for what is right, if there is a problem. As the old saying goes,"If you don't stand up when the situation arises then you are shit because shit doesn't stand." I've seen reports where people claim that Selma was in the past. Yes, it was in the past. But certain people have not learned. If you do not learn from the past then the past will repeat itself. John Lewis was right and he had a right to say what he felt. Trump needs to learn that if you want respect act like you deserve it and respect others.
Instead of encouraging communication, the POTUS-Elect chose to bash Lewis on twitter, causing a political storm and further causing racial tensions. He insulted the entire city of Atlanta, Georgia. He insults the office he seeks to elect. Every Predecessors before him had better class than what he is showing..
